Living under a rock... a very large one...

I know someone at work, who is around my age (maybe a few years younger) and he had no idea what fanfic was. I was wondering how that could be?
Okay, here's what I remember from our conversation...
I have this composition book (one of many) that I carry around and write some silly short stories (aka fanfic) about some of my favorite characters from movies, television shows, etc. and he asked to read some of it. I was kinda shocked 'cuz even though I enjoy writing, I am not prone to letting other people read my work... especially the stuff I put in my Naughty Bits notebook. I told him I was a fangirl and he needed me to explain it to him. How do you explain something like that? Um... I like Johnny Depp amongst other actors AAAAAAND I like writing stories with them interacting with each other. This is not a new idea. :: Shrug ::
I'm tired of talking about this and I'm hungry. Later.
